Prognostic value of preoperative absolute lymphocyte count in children with tetralogy of Fallot
Journal of the American Heart Association May 19, 2021
Wu X, Luo Q, Su Z, et al. - Researchers conducted this retrospective study to determine the prognostic value of preoperative absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) in children with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Between January 2016 and December 2018, 707 patients aged < 6 years who underwent corrective operations for TOF in Fuwai Hospital, China, were analyzed. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify the independent risk factors for poor prognosis, on which a risk scoring system was based. According to the findings, ALC was an independent factor with a cutoff point of 4.36×10 9/L. It was noted that the addition of ALC improved the area under the curve from 0.771 to 0.781. In children with TOF, a low preoperative ALC is an independent indicator of poor prognosis.
