Prognostic value of pre- and post-operative circulating tumor cells detection in colorectal cancer patients treated with curative resection: A prospective cohort study based on ISET device
Cancer Management and Research Oct 12, 2018
Yang C, et al. - In colorectal cancer (CRC) patients treated with curative resection, researchers assessed the ability to predict recurrence of pre- vs post-op circulating tumor cells (CTCs). For this investigation, they evaluated consecutive CRC patients treated with curative resection from January 2014 to March 2015. For these patients, post-op CTCs+, but not pre-op CTCs+, could independently predict poor prognosis. As compared to patients with pre-op CTCs+, patients with post-op CTCs+ have a higher risk of recurrence. The study findings suggested that evaluation of post-op, rather than pre-op, CTCs is warranted.
