Prognostic value of miR-221 in human malignancy: Evidence from 3,041 people
BMC Cancer Sep 06, 2019
Liu K, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers assessed the prognostic value of miR-221 in different types of human cancers. They identified the relevant studies from up-to-date electronic databases, including PubMed and Embase. The analysis included 32 papers comprising 3,041 patients and 15 cancers. The prognostic values were assessed using hazard ratios (HRs) of miR-221. The combined HR for overall survival (OS), relapse-free survival, and disease-free survival were 1.93, 1.37, and 1.24, respectively. Findings revealed a link of miR-221 with a poor OS in human carcinomas, and therefore, it may be used as a valuable predictor of clinical outcomes.
