Prognostic value of miR-17-5p in cancers: A meta-analysis
OncoTargets and Therapy Jun 26, 2018
Kong W, et al. - Given that miR-17-5p has been shown to play an important role in the development of cancer, researchers performed a quantitative analysis of the link between miR-17-5p and prognosis in various cancers. They used the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane library databases to identify studies offering prognostic data and clinicopathological features of overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). They used odds ratios (ORs) to evaluate the correlations between miR-17-5p expression and clinicopathological characteristics. This analysis included a total of ten studies. They found a poor prognosis in cancer patients was indicated by elevated expression of miR-17-5p, which, may also be of value as a new tumor marker to monitor cancer development and progression.
