Prognostic value of miR-17-5 p in gastrointestinal cancers: A systematic review and meta-analysis
OncoTargets and Therapy Sep 27, 2018
Wang Z, et al. - Via this meta-analysis, researchers assessed the value of miR-17-5 p (an important member of miR-17/92 cluster) as a prognostic biomarker for gastrointestinal tumor patients, since it has been identified as a possible prognostic factor for survival in tumor patients. They calculated pooled hazard ratios and 95% CI of miR-17-5 p for overall survival and disease-free survival after analyzing the eligible studies searched through PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang Data until September 2017. A total of 11 studies with 1,279 patients were identified in the categorical variable analysis. Prognostic effects were found with regard to miR-17-5 p on overall survival and disease-free survival in patients with gastrointestinal tumors. In this patient populace, poor overall survival and disease-free survival could be predicted by overexpression of miR-17-5, as seen in the pooled analyses.
