Prognostic value of lymph node yield and density in head and neck malignancies
Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Jun 20, 2018
Cheraghlou S, et al. - Authors systematically reviewed the literature and conducted a meta-analysis of studies that gauged the prognostic significance of lymph node yield and/or lymph node density following neck dissection for patients with head and neck cancer. Improved outcomes were portended with increased nodal yield. It may be a valuable quality indicator for neck dissections, while there is an association between increased lymph node density and diminished survival. Authors suggested a probability for increased lymph node density being used for postsurgical counseling and planning for adjuvant therapy.
