Prognostic value of Fluorine-18 fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission computed tomography in patients with unexplained atrioventricular block
Heart Rhythm Oct 26, 2017
Danwade TA, et al. - Prognostic utility of Fluorine-18 fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission computed tomography (18-FDG PET) scan was assessed in patients with unexplained atrioventricular conduction block (AVB). Higher adverse cardiac events and worse outcomes were reported for patients with high degree AVB and abnormal myocardial 18-FDG PET uptake. These complications may be abated via early screening for myocardial inflammation and appropriate treatment. Notably, tuberculosis may be an important cause of unexplained AVB apart from sarcoidosis, in developing countries like India.
