Prognostic value of C-reactive protein/albumin ratio for patients with hypopharyngeal and laryngeal cancer undergoing invasive surgery involving laryngectomy
Head & Neck Apr 21, 2019
Kuboki A, et al. - Fifty-six participants who underwent total laryngectomy or total pharyngolaryngectomy between 2003 and 2012 were investigated to quantify the significance of the C-reactive protein/albumin (CRP/Alb) ratio in clinical outcomes following invasive surgery like laryngectomy for hypopharyngeal and laryngeal cancer. They recorded 0.32, the optimal cutoff value of the CRP/Alb ratio. They observed the CRP/Alb ratio as a significant and independent predictor of poor overall and disease-free survival in the multivariate analysis. The CRP/Alb ratio appeared to be a novel and valuable indicator to predict the postoperative outcomes in patients with hypopharyngeal and laryngeal cancer cases.
