Prognostic significance of urinary protein and urinary ketone bodies in acute ischemic stroke
Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases Jul 29, 2021
You S, Xu J, Ou Z, et al. - To investigate the short-term prognostic significance of urinary protein and urinary ketone bodies in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS), this study was conducted with 2,842 AIS patients. Participants were split into urinary protein positive and negative, urinary ketone bodies positive and negative by urine dipstick. Findings demonstrated not only an independent association of urinary protein at admission with both in-hospital mortality as well as with poor functional outcome at hospital discharge in acute stroke patients, but also revealed that urinary ketone bodies also related to poor functional outcome at hospital discharge.
