Prognostic significance of NANOG expression in solid tumors: A meta-analysis
OncoTargets and Therapy Sep 13, 2018
Zhao LQ, et al. - Researchers performed this meta-analysis to assess the association of NANOG (a tumor marker that may indicate poor prognosis in various neoplasms) expression and clinicopathological features, how survival of patients with malignant tumors is impacted by its expression. On analyzing 33 articles including 35 data sets of 3,959 patients, they found elevated NANOG expression to be correlated with poor overall survival and poor disease-free survival. In non-small cell lung, head and neck, and digestive system cancers, NANOG expression was found to be correlated with worse overall survival, in subgroup analysis. Furthermore, poor tumor differentiation, lymph node metastasis, advanced TNM stage, and T stage were also noted to be correlated with high NANOG expression. The evidence supports the significance of NANOG as a tumor biomarker in guiding clinical management and determining prognosis.
