Prognostic significance of microscopic tumor extension in local recurrence of myxofibrosarcoma and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma

Pathology International Aug 19, 2018

Song B, et al. - Experts explored whether microscopic extension into surrounding normal tissue can influence the local recurrence of myxofibrosarcoma (MFS) and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) by analyzing data from 42 cases (22 MFS and 20 UPS). In most MFS and UPS patients, microscopic extensions at the edge of the main mass into the surrounding normal tissue were noted. Findings suggested an association of the length of microscopic extension with local recurrence.
