Prognostic significance of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) overexpression in urothelial carcinoma of urinary bladder
BMC Urology Jun 14, 2018
Hashmi AA, et al. - Researchers assessed the frequency and prognostic significance of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) immunohistochemical expression in a locoregional population. They performed EGFR immunohistochemistry on 126 bladder cancer cases and assessed the association of EGFR expression with tumor grade, lamina propria invasion, deep muscle invasion, and recurrence of disease. Findings revealed significant correlation of EGFR overexpression with tumor grade, muscularis propria invasion, and recurrence, thereby suggesting that in urothelial bladder carcinoma, it can be used as a prognostic biomarker.
