Prognostic significance and population dynamics of peripheral monocytes in patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma
Head & Neck May 30, 2019
Takahashi H, et al. - Researchers examined pretreatment inflammatory biomarker levels in patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) regarding their prognostic significance and population dynamics. Findings revealed the independent prognostic value of elevated monocyte count for progression-free survival and low lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio for overall survival. Patients vs healthy donors (HDs) had a lower proportion of intermediate monocytes and a higher proportion of classical monocytes. Furthermore, patients had higher PD-L1 expression on monocytes than HDs.
