Prognostic role of tumoral PDL1 expression and peritumoral FoxP3+ lymphocytes in vulvar melanomas
Human Pathology Jan 10, 2018
Chlopik A, et al. - Experts resolved to inspect the role of tumoral PDL1 expression and peritumoral FoxP3+ lymphocytes in the prognosis of vulvar melanomas. As per the outcomes, an increased density of peritumoral FoxP3+ lymphocytes could exert a positive impact on the survival in a subset of vulvar melanomas, independent from tumor thickness. Tumoral PDL1 expression illustrated a relation with tumoral and peritumoral CD8+ and FoxP3+ lymphocytes, which was found to be supportive of an adaptive immune response. Regardless of the low frequency of PDL1 expression in vulvar melanoma, its expression possibly detected a subset of vulvar melanoma that could respond to immunotherapy.
