Prognostic role of pretreatment serum albumin in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma: A meta-analysis and systematic review
Clinical Otolaryngology Oct 07, 2019
Yang H, Wang K, Liang Z, et al. - In patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), researchers conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the prognostic significance of pretreatment serum albumin (ALB). There were ten studies that included 7,339 cases. Worse overall survival and distant metastasis-free survival were significantly associated with lower pretreatment serum ALB levels. A lower level of serum albumin pretreatment indicates poor prognosis and can be measured to determine NPC patients' risk stratification.
