Prognostic of different glomerular filtration rate formulas in patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention: Insights from a multicenter observational cohort

BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Jul 23, 2020

Chen W, Chen P, Ni Z, et al. - Researchers investigated the efficacy of different estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) formulas for predicting the prognosis of non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Using the following formulas, the eGFR was computed: the Cockcroft-Gault, Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD), CKD (chronic kidney disease) Epidemiology Collaboration-creatinine, CKD Epidemiology Collaboration-Cys-C, CKD Epidemiology Collaboration-Cys-C-creatinine and a modified abbreviated MDRD (c-aGFR) equations in Chinese CKD patients. As per findings, a high prevalence of in-hospital net adverse clinical events resulted from severe renal dysfunction was identified in NSTE-ACS patients post-PCI irrespective of the formulas use. In NSTE-ACS patients, in-hospital as well as long-term prognosis was predicted with the similar efficacy by different formulas. For clinical use, the c-aGFR formula was identified as the simplest and a more convenient formula.
