Prognostic nomograms to predict overall survival and cancer-specific survival in patients with pelvic chondrosarcoma
Cancer Medicine Sep 26, 2019
Chen L, et al. - Researchers created nomograms predictive of survival in patients with pelvic chondrosarcoma (CS) via performing a retrospective analysis using the SEER database of patients with pelvic CS. They found independent risk factors, such as sex, pathologic grade, tumor size, tumor stage, and surgery, in univariate and multivariate analyses of overall survival (OS), and pathologic grade, tumor size, tumor stage, and surgery in univariate and multivariate analyses of cancer-specific survival (CSS). They combined these features, except surgery, in the nomograms for predicting 3- and 5-year OS and CSS, and the concordance indexes were estimated to be 0.758 and 0.786, respectively. The proposed nomograms were shown to precisely and individually predict OS and CSS of patients with pelvic CS. These nomograms could be helpful in personalized prognostic assessment, as well as in individualized clinical decision-making.
