Prognostic implications of fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 polymorphisms in primary breast cancer
Molecular Carcinogenesis May 05, 2018
Wei W, et al. - In order to determine correlations between polymorphisms in fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) and breast cancer prognosis, researchers genotyped FGFR4 SNPs rs1966265 and rs351855 in 747 breast cancer patients using the SNaPshot method. Using dominant and co-dominant models, SNP rs351855 was correlated with FGFR4 protein expression. Lymph node metastasis (LNM), ER (estrogen receptor) status, and molecular subtype were found to be related to high FGFR4 expression. In univariate analysis, rs351855 was identified as a prognostic predictor. rs351855 was also found to be an independent prognostic factor in multivariate analysis. Overall, FGFR4 SNP rs351855 was shown to have an association with up-regulation of FGFR4 protein expression and a worse prognosis in breast cancer.
