Prognostic impact of in-hospital-bleeding in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention
The American Journal of Cardiology Aug 17, 2017
Cornara S, et al. – In a study population of STEMI patients treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI), researchers assessed if bleeding was an independent predictor of mortality. In addition, they examined the link between the presence of heart failure on presentation (Killip classification), bleeding occurrence and outcome. Findings demonstrated an independent association of in–hospital bleeding with increased mortality in the early period after STEMI, also after adjusting for variables associated with the risk of bleeding. Also, data highlighted an association of bleeding with increases mortality in patients with signs of heart failure at admission, whereas it had no influences in Killip class 1 patients.
