Prognostic impact of Clinical Frailty Scale in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction
ESC Heart Failure Jun 24, 2021
Sunaga A, Hikoso S, Yamada T, et al. - Researchers investigated prognostic significance of the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) in real-world patients suffering from heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). They utilized data from a prospective multicentre observational study of patients with HFpEF (PURSUIT-HFpEF study). Overall 842 patients with HFpEF were split into two groups employing CFS. The composite of all-cause mortality and heart failure admission was set as the primary endpoint. A significant connection of high CFS with composite endpoint, all-cause mortality and heart failure admission was revealed post-adjustment for covariates in the multivariable Cox regression analysis. Findings showed HFpEF patients experienced poor prognosis in relation to frailty assessed by the CFS.
