Prognostic impact of atrial fibrillation in electrical storm
Cardiology Sep 25, 2019
Müller J, Behnes M, Ellguth D, et al. - Among retrospectively enrolled implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) patients presenting with electrical storm (ES), researchers focused on the prognostic influence of atrial fibrillation (AF) on mortality, rehospitalization, major adverse cardiovascular events and recurrence of ES. This study included overall 87 ES patients with ICD, with a follow-up performed for 2.5 years; 43% suffered from AF. According to the findings, a univariable link of AF presence with increased rates of all-cause mortality at 2.5 years was observed in ES patients. Furthermore, AF was found to be multivariably related to overall rehospitalization, particularly because of AF and acute heart failure.
