Yin LX, et al. - Experts ascertained if human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive and HPV-negative oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas (OPSCCs) have distinct predictive features. They also explored the predictive significance of sex and race in OPSCC following HPV stratification. An improved overall survival could be seen in women with HPV-positive OPSCC. In HPV-negative OPSCC, sex does not play a prognostic role. Among HPV-positive or HPV-negative patients, findings suggested no differences in prognosis by race.
