Prognostic factors and treatment outcomes of advanced maxillary gingival squamous cell carcinoma treated by intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy concurrent with radiotherapy
Head & Neck May 30, 2019
Hayashi Y, et al. - Advanced maxillary gingival squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) treated with intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy concurrent with radiotherapy was examined for the prognostic factors and treatment outcomes. Researchers retrospectively reviewed 46 patients treated with intra-arterial chemotherapy (total, 60 mg/m2 docetaxel and 150 mg/m2 cisplatin) and three-dimensional computed tomography based, daily conventional radiotherapy (total, 60 Gy/30 fr) for 6 weeks. Outcomes support the efficacy of intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy concurrent with radiotherapy for advanced maxillary gingival SCC. Patients with N0-1 vs those with N ≥ 2 had significantly higher OS rate. They noted no grade 5 toxicities.
