Prognostic factors and prediction models for acute aortic dissection: A systematic review
BMJ Open Feb 10, 2021
Ren Y, Huang S, Li Q, et al. - Researchers aimed at systematically reviewing the methodological features of studies investigating the prognostic factors or developing or validating models for predicting mortalities among patients with acute aortic dissection (AAD), which would inform future work. Searching PubMed and EMBASE, they identified 32 studies for inclusion. Of these, 18 examined the performance of prognostic factors, and 14 developed or validated prediction models. Observations revealed that suboptimal methods were used for prognostic studies on mortality among patients with AAD, including prediction models or prognostic factor studies, and there was great variation in the model performance. They emphasize the necessity for substantial efforts to improve the use of the methods in this population.
