Prognostic evaluation of serum osteopontin in patients with anti-MDA5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis associated interstitial lung disease
Cytokine Aug 04, 2020
Gao Y, Zhao Q, Xie M, et al. - Researchers assessed whether osteopontin (OPN) has clinical significance in anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (anti-MDA5) positive DM-ILD (dermatomyositis associated with interstitial lung disease) patients. This study included 43 patients. A more obvious expression of OPN in alveolar epithelial cells and macrophages was indicated in anti-MDA5-positive ILD patients, as per immunohistochemical results for OPN. Experts identified significant correlations between serum OPN and ferritin concentrations. Overall, OPN expression in lung tissues can be seen as well as it can exist as a secreted form in serum. In comparison with serum ferritin, serum OPN may afford a more worthy prognostic biomarker in DM-ILD patients with anti-MDA5 antibody.
