Prognostic and diagnostic significance of circRNAs expression in hepatocellular carcinoma patients: A meta-analysis
Cancer Medicine Feb 01, 2019
Huang X, et al. - Researchers evaluated the clinicopathological, prognostic, and diagnostic features of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) via analyzing 17 eligible studies which included 7 for clinicopathological features, 10 for prognosis, and 8 for diagnosis. As for clinicopathological parameters, high expression of oncogenic circRNAs displayed a significant association with poor clinicopathological features and tumor-suppressor circRNAs proved the contrary. In terms of the prognostic values, a negative influence of oncogenic circRNAs on overall survival was evident, however, high expression of tumor-suppressor circRNAs was associated with improved survival outcomes. Findings thus suggest circRNAs as relevant biomarkers for prognosis and diagnosis of HCC patients.
