Prognostic ability of quick-SOFA across different age groups of patients with suspected infection outside the intensive care unit: A cohort study
Journal of Critical Care Jul 17, 2018
Ramos JGR, et al. - Researchers assessed the performance of qSOFA across different age groups of patients with suspected infection outside the intensive care unit (ICU). They focused on the outcomes ie, hospital mortality, ICU admission and bacteremia in a retrospective cohort in a tertiary hospital in Brazil, from January 2016 to December 2016. They compared qSOFA with respect to performance in three age groups: reference: ≤65 years, old: 65 to 79 years and very old: ≥80 years. The observed overall accuracy of qSOFA was good. Moreover, its association with outcomes in old and very old patients was found to be more strong as compared to younger patients.
