In this study, better clinical outcomes were observed among patients with hypertrophy limited to the basal septum (these represented a special clinical subtype of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), while those with diffuse hypertrophy of the ventricular septum and free wall demonstrated lower survival after surgical myectomy.
