Prognosis and predictors of mortality in patients suffering myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries
Journal of the American Heart Association Jul 16, 2019
Choo EH, et al. - Researchers compared myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) vs myocardial infarction with obstructive coronary artery disease in terms of prognosis. They also investigated factors associated with all-cause mortality in MINOCA. They used a nationwide, multicenter, and prospective registry to find 13,104 patients without a previous history of significant coronary artery disease who had coronary angiography. Findings revealed comparable clinical outcomes in patients with MINOCA and those with myocardial infarction with obstructive coronary artery disease. A lower incidence of repeat revascularization was reported in MINOCA patients. MINOCA patients had lower mortality in relation to the use of renin-angiotensin system blockers and statins.
