Kamat PP, et al. - Authors ascertained that how procedural sedation was provided to children with autism spectrum disorders and if sedation programs have specialized protocols for procedural sedation of these children. On the delivery of procedural sedation to children with autism spectrum disorders, significant institutional variation was seen to exist among the Society for Pediatric Sedation programs. The care of this vulnerable population could be optimized with a better understanding of resources required, standardization of behavioural management strategies and pharmacologic approaches, and protocol development.
