Shin H, et al. - Researchers assessed the utility of the procalcitonin as a prognostic blood biomarker for outcomes in post-cardiac arrest patients via analyzing 1,065 patients from 10 studies included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Elevated procalcitonin level measured at 0-48 hours of post-cardiac arrest syndrome was noted to be associated with in-hospital mortality as well as with poor neurologic outcomes.
