Problematic Internet Use among high school students: Prevalence, associated factors and gender differences

Vigna–Taglianti F, et al. – This study incorporated the estimation of the prevalence of Problematic Internet Use (PIU) among high school students. It also focused on determining the factors related to PIU, underlining gender differences. It was illustrated that the activities of chatting and file downloading, and the location of use at Internet point among males, and younger age among females correlated with PIU, among those attending vocational schools. Meanwhile, information searching was protective among females. It was reported that PIU could become a public health concern in the next years. The physical and mental health consequences ought to be analyzed.
