Inflammation Research Jan 06, 2018
Pendharkar SA, et al. - This study was undertaken to investigate the links between pro-inflammatory cytokines and a comprehensive panel of gut hormones after an episode of acute pancreatitis. In this work, an involvement of gastric inhibitory peptide and peptide YY appeared in the perpetuation of subclinical inflammation following an episode of acute pancreatitis, which is known to play an important role in the pathogenesis of blood glucose derangements. In addition to having translational implications, these data advance the understanding of mechanisms underlying diabetes of the exocrine pancreas.
