Prior radiation therapy decreases time to idiopathic erosion of artificial urinary sphincter: A multi-institutional analysis
The Journal of Urology Nov 15, 2017
Kaufman MR, et al. - This paper entailed the contemplation of the consequence of prior radiation for prostate cancer on device survival of the artificial urinary sphincter (AUS). A link was disclosed between the radiation therapy in patients with known idiopathic cuff erosion with a notably increased time to erosion. The mean time to idiopathic cuff erosion appeared to be accelerated by approximately 2 years in irradiated patients. The yielded findings reflected the first illustration of significant outcome variations related to the radiation in AUS patients presenting particularly with cuff erosion.
