Primary HPV and molecular cervical cancer screening in US women living with HIV
Clinical Infectious Diseases Sep 08, 2020
Strickler HD, Keller MJ, Hessol NA, et al. - This study was sought to present primary HPV and molecular cervical cancer screening in US women living with HIV. Researchers included a total of 865 women living with HIV (323 from the Women’s Interagency HIV Study [WIHS] and 542 from WIHS-affiliated colposcopy clinics) who had undergone Pap and oncogenic human papillomavirus testing, including HPV16/18-genotyping. In women living with HIV, PHS with reflex HPV16/18-genotyping had fewer unnecessary colposcopies and (if confirmed) could be a potential alternative to Co-Testing.
