Preventive effect of a vapocoolant spray on propofol-induced pain: A prospective, double-blind, randomized study

Moon YE, et al. – Efficacy of a vapocoolant spray was compared with lidocaine pre–treatment for the prevention of propofol–induced pain. Findings demonstrated that vapocoolant spray offered analgesia similar to lidocaine and lowered the incidence of a metallic taste. Essentially, it offered greater satisfaction than lidocaine. Overall, it was concluded that vapocoolant spray is an effective and convenient way to prevent propofol–induced pain.
