Prevalent somatic BRCA1 mutations shape clinically relevant genomic patterns of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Southeast Europe
International Journal of Cancer Sep 07, 2017
Fountzilas G, et al. – This study was undertaken to analyze genomic patterns of locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPC) Southeast European (SEE) patients treated with chemo–radiotherapy. This study indicated the prevalence of somatic BRCA1 mutations in SEE NPC. These were shared between tumor-cell-rich (TC) and infiltrating-lymphocyte-rich (TILs) and appeared to affect patient outcome according to tumor genomic stability status. These novel data seemed to be helpful for designing new treatments for locally advanced NPC, along with the identified mutational signatures.
