Prevalence, temporal evolution and impact on survival of ventricular conduction blocks in patients with acute coronary syndrome and cardiogenic shock
The American Journal of Cardiology Apr 26, 2018
Tolppanen H, et al. - Researchers assessed the prevalence, temporal evolution, association with clinical and angiographic parameters, and influence on 1-year mortality of ventricular conduction blocks (VCBs) in acute coronary syndromes (ACS)-related CS, using data of 199 patients from a prospective multinational cohort. At baseline, a VCB was detected in 50% of patients; these patients were older, had lower left ventricular function and had more often left main disease, relative to those without VCB. Patients at particularly high mortality risk in ACS-related CS were identified very early by any VCB at baseline ECG, even if transient. The predictive value of a VCB was found to be independent of baseline variables and coronary angiography findings.
