Prevalence of the use of herbal medicines among patients with cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Nagendrappa PB, Atukunda EC, Kamatenesi MM, et al. - This study sought to construct the prevalence of herbal medicine use among patients with cancer, across various geographical settings and patient characteristics (age and gender categories). Between January 2000 and January 2020, researchers carried out searches of electronic databases for data published, including Medline (PubMed), Google Scholar, Embase, and African Index Medicus. The study enrolled 155 studies involving a total of 809,065 participants (53.95% female). The results demonstrated that Herbal medicine is used by a large percentage of patients with cancer. The observations of this study indicate the need for herbal medicine to be integrated into cancer care.
