Chakrabarti S, et al. – This paper focused on the prevalence of severe and profound sensorineural hearing loss in school children in West Bengal, India. The authors claimed that this was the first large scale study of the epidemiology of severe and profound sensorineural hearing loss in school children in India. However, more likewise studies were required from other parts of India. The findings of this study would aid in planning resource allocation, service provision, investigation into etiology and prevention of sensorineural deafness in children in India.
