Prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder and depression following violence related injury treated at the Emergency Department: A systematic review
BMC Psychiatry Sep 30, 2018
Ophuis RH, et al. - Researchers assessed the prevalence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), acute stress disorder (ASD), and depression among patients with violence-related injury to enhance the understanding of both prognosis and recovery for these patients. For this purpose, they analyzed sixteen studies reporting the prevalence rates of PTSD, ASD, or depression in this systematic review. The differences in diagnostic instruments limited comparability of the ASD, PTSD, and depression prevalence rates, so no clear prevalence trajectories were identified.
