Prevalence of left ventricular systolic dysfunction in pre-dialysis and dialysis patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction
European Journal of Heart Failure Dec 08, 2017
Hensen LCR, et al. - Researchers sought to assess the prevalence as well as prognostic impact of impaired left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). They reported a relatively high prevalence of impaired LV GLS despite preserved LVEF in pre-dialysis and dialysis patients. An increased risk of heart failure hospitalization and all-cause mortality was reported in those with preserved LVEF but impaired LV GLS.
