Prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS): Systematic review and adjusted meta-analysis
International Journal of Dermatology Oct 26, 2019
Phan K, et al. - A systematic review and meta-analysis of case-control studies were conducted to determine the pooled prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) cohorts, and if HS was more strongly correlated with Crohn disease or ulcerative colitis. The data presented in this work showed a statistically significant connection between HS and IBD. Subgroup analysis showed a significant link between HS and Crohn disease and with ulcerative colitis. The findings point out that all HS patients should be clinically screened for IBD symptoms and symptomatic patients referred for further investigations.
