Prevalence of hypertension in children with early-stage ADPKD
Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Apr 26, 2018
Massella L, et al. - In this retrospective multicenter study, researchers determined the prevalence of hypertension in children with early-stage autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. Researchers analyzed data from 310 children with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease with a mean age of 11.5±4.1 years old. In patients with a young-age disease onset, a high prevalence of hypertension was reported. In logistic regression analysis, a significant association was seen between a categorical cyst score that was calculated on the basis of the number of cysts >1 cm per kidney and daytime hypertension, nighttime hypertension, or 24-hour hypertension. A significant association of kidney length, expressed as SD score, with nighttime hypertension was also shown.
