Prevalence of hypertension in children with early-stage ADPKD
Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Jun 14, 2018
Massella L, et al. - In this retrospective multicenter study, researchers determined the prevalence of hypertension, as diagnosed by ambulatory BP monitoring, in children with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (age <18 years). For these subjects, data on basic anthropometric parameters as well as data on kidney function, BP treatment, and kidney ultrasound were also analyzed. They reported a high prevalence of hypertension in children with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease starting at young ages. A significant association between a categorical cyst score and daytime hypertension, nighttime hypertension, or 24-hour hypertension was revealed in logistic regression analysis. Data also demonstrated a significant association of kidney length, expressed as SD score, with nighttime hypertension.
