Prevalence of hypertension (HTN) and cardiovascular risk factors in a hospitalized pediatric hemophilia population
Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Mar 31, 2018
Alperstein W, et al. - Hospitalized children with hemophilia (CWH) between the ages of 0 and 21 years versus the general pediatric population were studied by investigating the prevalence of hypertension (HTN) and associated cardiovascular risk factors using data from the 2012 National Health Cost and Utilization Project database. It was determined that the prevalence of HTN in the hemophilia cohort remained higher, although not statistically significant. Data recommended close monitoring of cardiovascular risk factors in CWH, along with a better preventive strategy for detecting the hemophilic patients at higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease in adulthood.
