Prevalence of fatigue in head and neck cancer survivors
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology Feb 06, 2019
Bossi P, et al. - From February 2015 to July 2016, 129 subjects (median age, 60 years) were analyzed to estimate the prevalence and various factors correlated with fatigue in head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors. They noted the following primary sites of cancer in participants: oropharynx (46%), nasopharynx (22%), larynx/hypopharynx (14%), oral cavity (13%), and paranasal sinus or salivary gland (5%). Candidates completed oncologic treatment 12 to 96 months earlier (median = 34 months). They described the extent of fatigue in the following ways: absent in 15% of the cases, mild in 67%, moderate in 11%, and severe in 7%. They found no relationship between the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) average score and the analyzed variables.
