Prevalence of depression and anxiety among participants with glaucoma in a population-based cohort study: The Gutenberg Health Study
BMC Ophthalmology Jul 04, 2018
Rezapour J, et al. - Researchers gauged the prevalence of depression and anxiety among subjects with self-reported glaucoma. They also investigated the association between self-reported glaucoma and depression and anxiety respectively in a European cohort. In this first study analyzing both depression and anxiety among glaucoma patients in a European cohort, a similar prevalence of depression and anxiety was seen in the subjects with and without self-reported glaucoma. Findings did not suggest an association of self-reported glaucoma with depression or anxiety. Compared to previous study groups predominantly recruited from tertiary care hospitals, a lack of a burden of depressive symptoms could result from recruitment from a population-based sample.
