Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jun 18, 2021
Wright S, et al. - Researchers conducted this cross-sectional analysis for comparing the prevalence of depression in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) patients with that of controls. Using electronic health records data, 38,140 adult and 1,162 pediatric HS patients and controls were identified. Depression was prevalent in 30.0% of adults with HS compared with 16.9% of controls. Depression was found in 11.7% of children and adolescents with HS, compared with 4.1% of controls. Depression is common in HS children, adolescents, and adults. Depression screening should be done on a regular basis.
