Prevalence of coronary vasospasm using coronary reactivity testing in patients with spontaneous coronary artery dissection
American Journal of Cardiology Mar 15, 2019
Solaru KW, et al. - In this single-center retrospective review, researchers assessed the link between spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) and coronary vasospasm by using coronary vasospasm testing in patients with history of SCAD. The participants had received provocative testing using ergonovine. They defined positive vasospasm as ergonovine-induced total or subtotal occlusion of at least one major coronary artery and resolution of this occlusion with nitrates. Overall, 11 patients met inclusion criteria and those with history of strong trauma to the chest and iatrogenic dissection (eg catheter-induced) were excluded. In individuals with confirmed prior SCAD, a low prevalence of coronary vasospasm was reported.
